Rip it, or keep it sealed?

Pick a sealed product and see two honest numbers side by side: what opening it returns on average against what it costs, and how often it holds the cards collectors rip for. You decide whether the chase is worth it.

How to read it

The same three parts for every box, in the same order, so a fun box and a good box are never confused.

  1. The honest line

What the cards in a box are worth on average against what the box costs sealed, said in words first: on average, opening gains or loses this much.

  2. The odds ladder

The chance a box holds at least one card worth $50, $100, $250 or more, as "1 in N boxes" and as a share, so a big number is never the only number.

  3. The chase

How often the most valuable cards turn up, with their prices. The one place the foil shines, because it is the one part that is about luck.

Every figure says what it rests on and when it was measured. Where collectors measured the odds rather than the maker publishing them, the result is shown at both ends of the measured range. A box with no known odds is listed, and left out rather than guessed at. Questions? See the FAQ.
